** 2022 Teams competition will commence on Tuesday 15th March **

New in 2022

It was decided at the 2022 AGM that the following new items will be introduced for the 2022 season:

  • Should a team member be unable to play due to being diagnosed with Covid-19, and no reserve is available, this shall be counted as a forfeit.

  • Due to some venues requiring proof of vaccination (as at Feb 22), it is up to each team to manage their player roster based on their players vaccination status matching that of each venue’s requirements.

  • Affiliation fees for 2022: Team 1 = $100 per year. Subsequent teams from the same club will be an additional $50 per team per year.

  • Thongs are no longer permitted at any SSSA event. This includes the Teams competition, Champion of Champions and Shire Singles. All other dress regulations remain in line with the venues (ie neat & tidy).

  • Shire Singles eligibility: this will now align with the qualification criteria of the Teams competition (ie To qualify, a player must play 5 matches throughout the Competition with at least 2 matches being played in the firstround.).

Draw and Results

Thanks to Simon Shek, we now have our own online Results Portal. This system will automatically record and update results & handicaps each week. The draw is also housed in this system, along with a huge amount of player & team data, documents, images, latest news etc.

SSSA Scorecard 2022

Scorecards must be filled in and signed by both captains, then uploaded with your results on the Results Portal.

Results via email/ SMS will no longer be accepted

Shire Handicaps

2021 saw the introduction of a new handicap format. For complete rules and regulations on this new system, please download the constitution on this page.

The basics: Win 2 frames, handiap -2. Lose 2 frames, handicap +2. Draw = no change. Limits apply. Handicap will freeze at 4 weeks prior to finals (ie remaining 3 weeks remain unchanged).

Handicaps will still be overseen by the handicap commitee, 3 times per year (and as required for new players)

Team format

2020 new format. Teams will now consist of 4 players (+reserves). Weekly games will now be played either home OR away, not both. Any member of a team who has played 3 or more matches shall not play for any other team in that year. See constitution for full details.

These changes were scheduled to begin in 2020, but as the season was cancelled (due to COVID-19), they commenced in 2021, and will continue in 2022.
