10th State Title for Kathy!

This year’s NSW Women’s State titles were again held at MINGARA RECREATION CLUB over the weekend of 16-17 September. Kathy Parashis defeated Megan Fullerton (3-2) in the final to win her 10th State Snooker title.

It’s been a big year for Kathy. Earlier in the year she was honoured as a Life Member, and in July was inducted into the first ever Hall of Fame, coinciding with the 100-year celebration of the Billiards and Snooker Association of NSW – a well-deserved acknowledgement of her extensive list of achievements and contributions to snooker over the years.

Kathy showed her experience and determination throughout the weekend and thoroughly deserved her victory.  She topped her round-robin group on day one and recorded the tournament’s highest break (44).

Runner-up Megan Fullerton was gallant in defeat. Megan is certainly no stranger to this event, with 4 NSW State titles to her name.

Special mention must also go to semi-finalists Cathy Small and Shirley Ryan who both played well all weekend.

Mingara and its members have been dedicated supporters of snooker for many years now, especially the Women’s – this year marking the 13th consecutive year that the NSW Women’s Snooker title has been hosted by Mingara Recreation Club.

Special thanks to sponsors Mingara Snooker & Billiards Club, in particular Alan Wood who did a magnificent job refereeing and preparing the tables for the entire event. Thanks also to Mark Robson and David Steer for their help with managing proceedings. All players were very grateful for your hospitality, and ongoing support. This assistance is vital to the success of all major Championships and is greatly appreciated.

Lastly, to the players – thank you all for making this such an enjoyable weekend. The friendships and memories made are what makes this event so successful.
